Comet Queen is a student at the Legion Academy.
History
Grava is a Quaalian from the planet Quaal. One day in her youth she flew through the tail of a comet she went through a genetic change, allowing her certain ehanced abilities. She is able to fly at super-speeds while trailing a stream of stellar energy, much like a comet does.
Grava has great skill in flying, showing hairline maneuvering through various obstacles at high speeds. Two of her stranger abilities are a gaseous projection from the trail off her head. One gas allows a deep, large cloud covering making it impossible to see through. The second induces drowsiness or even sleep in those who inhale its fumes.
When Bouncing Boy appeared as part of a good will tour at the Spiral Arm Colony, he met a strange alien girl calling herself Comet Queen. Comet Queen wanted to join the Legion of Super-Heroes, but Bouncing Boy had difficulty understanding her unending use of slang terminology.
To prove herself worthy of Legion status, Comet Queen took off towards the Lava Seas in search of the mythical remains of the alleged natives of Quaal-III. Bouncing Boy bounced off after her, afraid that the region would be too dangerous for the overzealous girl. He eventually caught up with her, but they became trapped inside an active volcano. Both of them combined their powers and escape the venting plasma.
Impressed with her powers, Bouncing Boy invited Comet Queen to join the Legion Academy. She never became a full-fledged Legionnaire, but eventually became a member of the Legion of Substitute Heroes.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Grallian Physiology: Grava has two forward toes, one rear toe, two fingers and a thumb. Hair is a gaseous trail like a comet. When Grava flew through the tail of a comet she went through a genetic change, allowing her certain abilities.
- Flight: She has great skill in flying, showing hairline maneuvering through various obstacles at high speeds. Grava has a small force field that surrounds her body when she flies allowing her to resist friction.
- Superhuman Speed: She is able to fly at super-speeds while trailing a stream of stellar energy, much like a comet does.
- Toxikinesis: She can generate various gases from the trail off her head. One is a gas that blots out light allowing her to escape or hide. Another gas she uses induces sleepiness.
