Notes

  • The character John Constantine could have possibly made his first appearance in this issue.
John Constantine was created by Alan Moore on something of a whim. He had asked his artists Steve Bissette and John Totleben what they would most like to draw, and both had said that they wanted to draw a character that looked like the musician Sting. Taking their suggestion, Moore built the character solely around that idea, eventually officially debuting the character as a working-class magician in Swamp Thing (Volume 2) #37.
However, in this issue, an unnamed, non-speaking character, drawn to resemble Sting appeared as an acquaintance of Swamp Thing in the future. Though this evidence could suggest the character was intended to be a foreshadowing of Constantine's official first appearance, for the sake of certitude, the DC Database stands by the "official" Swamp Thing (Volume 2) #37 appearance as first.[1]
