Detective Comics #579 is an issue of the series Detective Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of October, 1987.

Synopsis for "The Crime Doctor's Crimson Clinic"

Two-Face goes to see the Crime Doctor for a special operation while the Crime Doctor's thugs are stealing blood from blood banks. Luckily, Batman and Robin are hot on the case. After stopping the Crime Doctor's goons, the heroes learn that Thorne is most likely going to perform a heart transplant on the crime lord "Big Moe" McAllister, by removing Schuyler Reems' heart.

When the Dynamic Duo track-down the Crime Doctor's secret lair in the Cone Hills Region, south of Gotham City, and confront the bad guys, "Big Moe" has a heart attack, and Schuyler has a change of heart. He helps Batman and Robin defeat the Crime Doctor - crushing the Doctor's hands with a fire extinguisher, severely damaging Thorne's main working instruments. Bruce arranges for Schuyler to get employment at the Wayne Foundation so the ex-con will never again feel driven to such extremes to provide for his family.
