Doc Savage (Volume 2) #16 is an issue of the series Doc Savage (Volume 2) with a cover date of January, 1990.
Synopsis for "Undersea Showdown: The Sea Baron"
Doc Savage, shackled hand and foot, is floating to the bottom of the sea in shark infested waters. Savage causes himself to bleed, instigating one of the sharks to attack. He then loops his chains in the jaws of the shark so that it carries him over some coral which he uses to cause his wrists to bleed so they become slippery enough to get free of the chains. Once he gets free, Doc finds himself confronted by a shark.
Above the water, Doc's compatriots are held captive by the Sea Baron. Doc Savage leaps out of the water and onto the boat. He frees Beau and begins fighting the Sea Baron, who seeing himself outnumbered now that Beau is freeing the others, dives into the sea and flees to his submarine.
Savage convinces an oil corporation to send an empty tanker into the sea as bait fort the Sea Baron. The trap works and a giant octopus attacks the tanker. Doc Savage is shot to the scene via torpedo tube. Savage rips the helmet from Sea Baron's shoulder revealing his identity as Mr. Barron. Savage puts the helmet on and uses it to direct the octopus to break off its attack and Sea Baron uses the opportunity to knock Savage down and escape.
Savage tracks down and captures Barron.
