Synopsis for "The Death of Innocence - Part One: Denial"

Nabu informs Linda and Jack Small that Eric has died. He tells them how he saw Eric's soul leave his body earlier and how every vital function stopped working. Linda is devastated, but as soon as she gets close to Eric, his soul leaves her body and returns to Eric's, bringing him back from the dead. Eric proceeds to explain how his soul left his body to merge with Linda's while she was transformed as Fate. Linda realizes that she felt suddenly powerful and that the merging of souls might explain it. However, Eric is still very sick and he is left under the care of Nabu while Linda and Jack take a trip far from the city.

Meanwhile, Darkseid has summoned the Lords of Chaos and Lords of Order to inform them about the rising threat of a new species of humans, who will rise above the concepts of order and chaos. Darkseid tells them that a prototype human of this new species is developing on Earth and he strikes a deal with the Lords. Darkseid will eliminate this human and in exchange, he will rule alongside the Lords who win the eternal battle between order and chaos.

Without delay, Darkseid uses a Boom Tube to reach Eric's apartment in New York and prepares to eliminate him, while Linda senses a terrible danger, even though she is far away from Eric.
