Synopsis for "The Chosen One"

The Green Lantern Corps gathers on Oa to mourn the death of Abin Sur. As he stands silently before the monument of his fallen mentor, Sinestro remembers events from thirteen years ago, when he first became a Green Lantern.

In his memories, Sinestro tries to calm down a riot between Korugarans and government agents. Suddenly, a green power ring chooses him and teleports him to Oa, where he meets Abin Sur. Sinestro, who never believed the Green Lanterns were real, demands to return to Korugar so that he can eradicate his enemies. Abin Sur calms him down, explaining that the Green Lanterns don't believe in vengeance but in justice.

Tomar-Re snaps Sinestro out of his memories and reassures him that the entire Corps is there for him. He also asks what should be their course of action now. Looking back at his comrades, Sinestro reminds them of what the Corps stands for: to seek justice for those who need it.

Synopsis for "The Origin of the Green Lantern Corps"

The Book of Oa recaps the story of the Guardians and the creation of the Green Lantern Corps.

Billions of years ago, the universe was plunged into endless war, until a race of immortals fought the forces of chaos and vowed to instill order. These self-appointed Guardians of the Universe harnessed most powerful force in existence: the emerald energy of willpower, which comes from the will of every living creature in the universe. With this new power, the Guardians created the planet of Oa, storing the energy in a Central Power Battery, and forging rings capable of channeling it. They divided the universe in 3600 sectors and sent their rings to choose one protector for each sector, with only one requirement: they must be fearless. Fueled by willpower, these ring-wielders received immense power, as well as a battery that allowed them to recharge their rings every planetary cycle. To this day, together, these 3600 recruits form the intergalactic police force that became known throughout the universe as the Green Lantern Corps.

For thousands of years, the Green Lantern Corps patrolled and protected the universe from every threat imaginable, one of their biggest being the mysterious fear entity known as Parallax, which corrupted one of the Guardians. The Guardians needed the assistance of the Green Lantern Abin Sur to stop Parallax and imprison him on the dead world of Ryut. They haven't spoken a word about Parallax ever since, and they hope they never have to again.
