Synopsis for "Trial by Fire (Part II of VI)"

The influence of the unknown telepath continues to expand: in the Middle East, leaders from Bialya and Qurac have a pleasant and brief conversation that settles their conflict in the region and members of extremist organizations such as the Ku Klux Klan begin to direct their hatred against themselves. Although many of the effects are wonderful, the JLA is deeply mistrustful. The Martian Manhunter cannot touch the mind of the telepath causing the situation, and on the moon, Firestorm has lost his powers. Green Lantern's ring flares up unexpectedly, leading them to a mountain hideaway of Vandal Savage tells them of something he encountered 20,000 years ago called the Burning, a highly destructive Martian force. Returning to the Watchtower, the League find that Superman has been attacked and incapacitated; although they can't see anything, Manitou Raven is sure that the attacker is still in the room.
