Synopsis for "Zigi and Zagi's Trap for Superman!"

This story is reprinted from Action Comics #316.

Superman bids farewell to his interplanetary friends Zigi and Zagi. Unbeknownst to them, Zigi and Zagi have a stowaway on their rocket ship. An escaped convict has boarded in an effort to run away from authorities. Superman is notified that the convict might be on board and he goes after the spaceship as it travels back to their home planet. The two boys are delighted that Superman is visiting their home so they hide the convict in an effort to prolong Supermans visit. In the meantime Superman is introduced to Zigi and Zagi’s sister Zyra. The boys hope that a romance will flourish between the two and they could have Superman as a permanent brother in law. The couple spends time together as Zyra acts as a guide and shows Superman around. He is shown a contraption known as the Gravity Master which keeps a far away asteroid at bay and prevents the asteroid from slamming into their planet. At one point, the escaped convict eludes his captivity and disengages the Gravity Master by mistake. The asteroid heads towards the planet but Superman is readily able to deflect the asteroid away from their home. In the meantime, Zigi and Zagi recapture the convict and secretly ship him off back to Earth via a delivery service. They hope that Superman will remain on their planet if he believes that the convict is still on the loose. Zyra soon becomes very smitten with Superman especially after watching him fight against a boxing robot. She eventually proposes to the man of steel on the one night when the planets moons come together. Superman is at a loss as to how to handle the situation but then he learns about Zyras former boyfriend Zarthur who disappeared while exploring the mythical Graveyard Planet. Superman flies to the Krob galaxy and locates Zarathur. He returns him back to Alpha Centauri where Zyra is very happy to see him. She rescinds her proposal to Superman and their engagement is effectively broken. Superman then bids farewell to his two friends and flies home to find that the escaped convict is already on Earth serving time in prison.

Synopsis for "Superman's Day of Doom!"

This story is reprinted from Superman #157.

Metropolis is set to observe Superman Day with a great parade in which Superman and many of his friends, including Supergirl and some Legionnaires, will participate.

Superman is given a prediction machine from the Cybern Galaxy in return for a good deed he once did them. The machine, which turns up at the Daily Planet, has the power to predict the answers to three questions about the future. Since Clark Kent has been threatened by a gangster lately, he asks who will rescue him if he is endangered that day, and the answer comes back: "L.L."

Later, Superman's life is endangered when Bizarro leaves him a "gift" of Green Kryptonite. Superman hopes for aid from any of his "L.L." friends, including Lana Lang, Lois Lane, Lori Lemaris, Lightning Lad or Linda (Supergirl) Lee, but none of them are aware of his plight. Finally, Superman is saved in the nick of time by Steven Snapinn, a Little League baseball player. Superman presents Steven and his team for special recognition at the Superman Day rally.
