Lonar is a New God from New Genesis. He is the god of journeys and quests.[1]

Earth 3

Lonar arrived on Earth 3 to help Lex Luthor create a group of superhumans capable of opposing the Crime Syndicate's tyranny, the Legion of Justice.[2] Despite his best efforts the first confrontation between the Justice Legion and the Crime Syndicate turned out to be a disaster as his teammate Savanna was wounded and Johnny Quick was killed.[3]

When the Crime Syndicate retaliated Lonar engaged Ultraman in a fight but was quickly overcome when they crashed on the Moon, forcing him to withdraw.[3]

Green Lantern

Lonar was later seen back on Prime Earth when he tried to guide John Stewart on his path to ascension, he brought John back in time to the first meeting between the Guardians of the Universe and the New Gods of New Genesis and Apokolips where John discovered his new powers after being blasted by Darkseid.[1]

Lonar and John Stewart subsequently joined forces against the mad New God Esak who was harvesting the living energy of millions of mind controlled people in the hope to bring back to life Lightray and the other dead gods by creating an artificial god of his own, the Lightbringer.[4]

Lonar and John's efforts proved to be a success as John destroyed the Lightbringer and absorbed the Godstorm that resulted from its explosion.[5]

Powers

  • New God Physiology: The beings of New Genesis call themselves Gods and live outside of normal time and space, even outside of the normal 52 universes. These New Gods have evolved due to taking up the powers of other gods and through the use of the Source, believed to be one of the ultimate foundations of the Universal Expression of Energy, along with their superior technology, into beings of genetic stability and evolutionary perfection. The denizens of New Genesis are immortal, stronger, faster, and smarter than homo sapiens, despite their resemblance.
