Synopsis for "A Tale of Two Miracles"

After Shilo's first test with his own Mr. Miracle suit and Mother Box, Scott asks Highfather if it's possible for an Earth mortal to wield a Mother Box. Highfather replies that, while there is no reason to believe it's impossible, New Genesis' technology is attuned with their spirits, and mortals' spirits are not the same as theirs. He also explains that the Mother Box will adjust to Shilo's technology only if she wants it, and she might have mixed feelings about abandoning Scott and being shared with Shilo. After all, the Box is eternally linked with Scott.

Scott decides to try to convince Mother Box that Shilo is worthy. Scott asks Mother Box to connect and compare their spirits, to which she agrees grudgingly. They start the connection, but they get pulled inside the Mother Box, falling into a pitch-black void. When the lights come up, all they see is a flashy and psychedelic space, and Scott gets locked inside a dark cell while Shilo gets thrown into a forest. In New Genesis, the Source Wall gives the cryptic message: "IF THE TWO ARE ONE, ONE MUST BE PROVEN THE OTHER'S EQUAL". Shilo gets attacked by anti-bodies sent by Mother Box. He tracks them to the same polyhedron where Scott is trapped, and he breaks in, but then they both get imprisoned.

Mother Box tells Scott that Shilo passed the first physical test, so now they have to test his spirit. They concentrate together and connect their spirits with the Box, letting her see both of their pasts. Mother Box sees they both had similar lives, abandoned and abused as kids, both forced to find their own path to freedom and becoming heroes. After that, Mother Box accepts Shilo, and the test is over.

Back in their apartment, Highfather senses a man spying on them on the roof. The stranger, brought inside by Highfather, tells Scott that he represents a client and that he has a job to offer him.
