Synopsis for "Labyrinth of Lost Souls"

On Euphorix, a young warrior named Katydid trains with her mentor Skokiaan. Katydid is extremely skillful, but does not possess the same grim determination as the venerable Skokiaan. As their session concludes, Skokiaan receives a communique from Primus of the Omega Men. Primus tells her of reports of Branx activity on the primitive moon of Tallgrass, and sends Skokiaan to the moon on a reconnaissance mission.

Time passes, and Skokiaan fails to report back. Katydid grows concerned and takes it upon herself to go to Tallgrass to investigate. When she arrives, she is set upon by a tribe of warriors who imprison her inside of a facility known as the Killing House. The Killing House is a parasitic entity of Psion design. It feeds off the energy of those trapped inside its labyrinthine corridors, forcing them to fight one another just to stay alive.

Katydid wanders the corridors of the Killing House encountering several combatants. Her first opponents are the spellcaster Juju and the mouse-like Skittre. She avoids being captured by them, but then has to fight against the combined forces of several more aliens named Brighteyes, Soma and Impasse. Finally, Katydid is forced to fight her own mentor Skokiaan. During the battle, the student surpasses the teacher, and Katydid defeats her with a power surge that shorts out the Killing House's symbiotic nerve center. Now free of the building's control, the warriors make peace with one another and decide to set up an outpost on Tallgrass.
