The man known as the Overlord was a criminal mastermind whose repeated attempts to conquer humanity brought him into continual conflict with the Super Friends.
History
Originally, he appeared to be a wealthy man named Sandor Fane, who hired the hitman known as Kingslayer to assassinate six heads of state, but the plot failed, as did a subsequent one involving manipulating a trio of Earth elementals, and following Fane's capture by the Super Friends, the real Overlord turned out to have been his unnamed flunky all along. The Overlord made several subsequent attempts to subjugate humanity and defeat the Super Friends, including cloning himself to create the super-powered 'future men' Futurio and Futurio-XX.
