Phil Rothstein was the father of Atom-Smasher.
History
Phil Rothstein was a young man with a bright future ahead of him when he met and married Terri Kurtzberger; he was going to become a doctor. Unfortunately, the Vietnam War arrived and instead of going to medical school, Phil ended up as a helicopter pilot. He was reported missing, presumed dead when his 'copter was blown up, leaving Terri a widow with a young son to bring up alone. Phil's son, Albert grew up to become the hero named first Nuklon, and later Atom Smasher.

- Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-Two era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and no longer apply.
