Synopsis for Plastic Man: "Body, Mind, and Soul"

The chief calls Plastic Man to his office, then explains to him that he's discovered "Eel" O'Brian's true identity as the costumed hero. As Plastic Man ruefully agrees to give himself up, the chief has a change of heart and says that if Eel solves three of his toughest cases, his criminal past will be forgotten. First, he captures a gangster willing to avoid capture, even if he must commit suicide to do so. Then, he tracks down and apprehends a behind-the-scenes gang leader. Finally, he investigates mysterious deaths in an isolated rural town, which turn out to be the victims of a werewolf. Convinced of his good intentions, the chief allows him to remain a free man in the F.B.I.

Synopsis for Flatfoot Burns: "The Framed Gorilla"

A gorilla runs wild killing men in town. Flatfoot finds out he was brought back from Africa by a man now trying to capture him, but it turns out the victims were the co-owners of a gold mine, and the man Flatfoot met before had been sending the ape out to kill them to have all the shares to himself. Ironically, the ape scales the outside of the building where he's hiding and captures him.

Synopsis for Destiny: "The Picture Murders"

An ugly child's drawing shows up in the window of a thrift store, but a thug breaks in that night and knifes the store owner in the throat to get it. Destiny appears and knocks out the crook, but in the course of the fight a cheap daub gets scraped off, revealing a lost Rembrandt underneath. Destiny calls around the art dealers in town, and arrests the one tricked into confessing to hiring a hood to steal the painting.

Synopsis for Manhunter: "The Ghostmaster"

A Mr. Fearless visits a bank president to propose investment in a housing project, but when he gets the man alone to supposedly show him some blueprints, instead Fearless pulls a gun. He explains he used to be a great vaudevillian, but when the medium died he had nothing, except the skills he'd developed that let him impersonate anyone. Which he uses to impersonate the bank president and start ruthlessly collecting all of its assets to steal them and disappear.

Dan Richards is one of the officers assigned to break up a riot when people with money at the bank try to withdraw and are told there's nothing. Meanwhile, Mr. Fearless stages a suicide for the bank president, but Richards declares it a murder. Seeing a news story that Officer Richards has seen through his ruse, Mr. Fearless impersonates Richards to retract his previous statement. Unfortunately for him, he runs into Richards himself without realizing it, Richards investigating the case as Manhunter. The hero trails him, sees him change back to Fearless, and recognizes him as the Ghostmaster from seeing him perform years ago. Manhunter's disappointed to see such a great performer turn to murder, but does his duty and arrests Fearless.

Synopsis for Human Bomb: "Patch-Eye the Perilous"

A man wearing an eye patch comes into Roy's lab looking for help with a revolutionary motor he's developing. Roy tunes it to perfection, but the man refuses to say what it's for yet. Hustace sneaks out to see where the man goes, but is easily spotted and shoved into a garbage can. As the Human Bomb, Roy finds his friend and they enter the man's lab, being greeted by a robotic ghost. The scientist then turns a robotic snake and boxer loose on the pair, who are eventually seen off by their explosive powers. They chase the scientist into a room and find a beautiful woman who immediately starts flirting with Hustace, but makes the deadly mistake of trying to tickle his feet. This blows her to bits and reveals her to be another robot. Devastated by the loss of his robot woman, the scientist swears off robotics.

Synopsis for Spirit: "The Death Dolls"

The Spirit tracks down Yagor, an engineer who's stolen the plans to build robots, but the buyer he's talked to is unimpressed when mere pistol shots penetrate the armor of the robot soldier he's created. To get revenge, Yagor sends a smaller doll-like robot to hunt down the buyer and blow up, obliterating him. Driven mad, Yagor sends his robot soldier to maraud in the city but it's brought down by a fusillade of police gunfire. Spirit captures Yagor and hands him over to the police, but escapes their attempt to arrest him too.

  • This is the last time that Earth-X's Plastic Man uses his real name. From here on, he is seen living with Woozy, and his face does not revert to "Eel's" when he loses consciousness. This may be poor writing, or an insinuation of subconscious association of identity.
