Synopsis for "Hilo Monsters"

Superboy and Tana spend some time in Hilo, Tana trying to teach the Kid some Pidgin English, when smoke is seen on the horizon.

Superboy checks it out, to find a monstrous living tree scattering a crowd of people and seizing one young woman. Superboy attacks the tree-thing, getting it to let go of the girl and sends the tree into some power lines, where it vanishes. The young woman is very grateful to SB, but the Kid has eyes only for Tana (no, that's not true; let's say his heart belongs to her already). The two of them go for a flight and talk about their feelings, but suddenly a huge creature made of electricity begins attacking people. Superboy manages to disperse the creature, but doesn't notice an arm reaching out and grabbing a small lizard until there is a giant Godzilla like lizard thing about to swallow him whole. The Kid loses his specs, so he has to improvise, but manages to lay down the lizard and it changes into a small, goblin looking man whose intials are B.E.M., a freak who felt bad because people laughed at him. Refusing to go to jail, he uses his transmutation power on a car and begins to change into a robotic monster when SB knocks him into the water. Unfortunately, he can't control his power in the water, and is torn apart by the currents. Lady Dragon of the Silicon Dragons watched the whole fight, and takes measures to see if B.E.M. can be recovered.

While he made a public appearance of his usual bravado whenever he beats a bad guy, SB feels terrible about what happened. Tana tries to make him feel better, and agrees to see if a relationship between them can work.
