Synopsis for "Mission 1.4: The Possession of Slade Wilson"

With Slade Wilson possessed by Eclipso, thanks to putting his hand on the Black Diamond, Team 7 is willing to turn on him, for the greater good. As much as they may want to spare Slade's life, they take the risk of firing their weapons at him, suspecting that their bullets will have no effect - correctly. They are saved by Essence, who urges them to run for their lives while she distracts their enemy.

Essence claims that the sentinels of the island will allow the team to pass, as their primary duty is to prevent Eclipso from escaping Sentinel Island. Cole Cash can't stand by and watch Essence sacrifice herself to save them, and stays behind, only to watch her disappear into thin air, and he is to become the next target of the killer's attention. However, Cole knows that there is a bomb nearby, and allows it to go off in Eclipso's face while he makes his own escape, hoping that the Sentinels can take care of the situation, grabbing up the discarded Black Diamond on his way.

After catching up to his team, Cole reveals that he managed to hold onto the diamond, much to the pleasure of Essence, who surprises them by appearing and explaining how they now have a chance to free Slade of his possession. When she encountered Eclipso, he stole a portion of her power, and as such, he is too strong to be held by the island. So, an alternative prison must be found. John Lynch may have a plan for it, but it may cost them all their lives to make it happen.

Despite the fact that half the team doesn't trust her, Essence provides them with a sword that she believes will weaken Eclipso to the point that he can be returned to the diamond. She cannot be the one to use the sword, lest he takes her power and uses it against them. It will have to be done by Team 7.

Within moments, Eclipso is upon them, and they try to hold him back by showering him with bullets. He mocks them, claiming that no mortal weapon can harm him. At which point, Fairchild thrusts the sword through his back, causing the spirit to leave Slade's body, promising to enter another of their bodies. He chooses Cole, intending to savor the subjugation of the man, but he is not expecting Cole to whip out the diamond and absorb him into it.

Though Eclipso is trapped in his diamond again, Slade is in poor shape, and they need extraction. Fortunately, the spirits preventing communication with the outside world have relinquished their grip, and Waller can call Summer Ramos for pickup.

Later, Lynch has the Black Diamond put away somewhere safe and then visits with Slade in his hospital bed. He has contacted Slade's wife Adeline, but Slade doesn't want her to see him as a weak cripple. In response, Lynch suggests that Slade volunteer for something called Project Majestic.
