Synopsis for "No Laughing Matter"

The Authority is safely back on The Carrier and Angie is installing the Baby Universe they took from the parallel Authority's Carrier, and as well cleaning up the remaining parasites that attacked The Carrier. They get everything ready and open a Door to another parallel world.

The Midnighter and Apollo of this world are still part of The Authority but apparently are not a couple and are heterosexual (supposedly). They've lost contact with their team but instead of looking for them, Midnighter presumes them dead and comes up with a plan to make money selling parts of The Carrier as condominiums. But the rest of the team arrives alive and well. Jenny Quantum make Midnighter and Apollo to scrape barnacles off The Carrier's hull as punishment. Then they detect the arrival of the mainstream Authority in orbit.

The mainstream Jack Hawksmoor heads down to investigate but is confronted by this Earth's Jack and Swift. Then the rest of this Earth's Authority arrive. The mainstream Authority try to reason with their counterparts but they're not having it and they engage in battle with each other.

Jenny Quarx finally convinces the parallel Jenny to read her mind and see they're not a threat. The two teams stop fighting and begin discussing how they can help get the mainstream Authority home. Just then, a group of villains called the League of Nasty Bastards attacks.
