The Flash Giant (Volume 2) #2 is an issue of the series The Flash Giant (Volume 2) with a cover date of January, 2020. It was published on November 15, 2019.

Synopsis for "Run Like There's No Tomorrow"

Lieutenant Beth Arden, alias Shift, after travelling to the past is immediately attacked by Central City's police officers, though immediately knocks them out. It is revealed that she has come to eliminate the Flash. In the present, Barry saves two kids from a neighborhood that is is bombed simultaneously. He leaves them at the city's hospital after escaping a mine blast he accidentally triggered and heads back out on the streets to find the perpetrator.

Four hours ago, Barry along with Captain Coover and Detective Ulski was investigating the bodies of a young couple found on a train track, even though no train has used it for months due to ongoing maintenance work. Ulski thinks they were run over, but Barry recognizes that there are no impact wounds and they smell of cotton candy as well as sawdust which means they were killed at a carnival, but thrown at the tracks to cover it up.

Back in the present, Barry gets chased by a heat-seeking missile which surprisingly catches up to him. Shift holds him down after he is knocked over by the missile's explosion and declares that she's here to kill him for what he did to her world. Five hours earlier, she had thought up the plan to find him by causing destruction in Central City. Back in present, Shift introduces herself and states that she is a member of the Speed Force Resistance.

Flash tries to escape from her clutches, but all his methods fail. After she throws her electric trident at him, Flash swims into the Wahasapi river and escapes by vibrating through the bedrock. Flash then disarms her but assures to help fix whatever he did wrong in the future. Shift explains that a man named Eobard Thawne tried to gain his powers in the 25th century after reading comics about Flash's adventures. He however overclocked and became mad, believing Flash was responsible for his condition. As a result, he killed millions since he assumed they all worked for the Flash.

Shift tells Barry to come to the 25th century to stop Thawne if he is genuine about helping and gifts him her badge. Ulski calls up Barry just after Shift goes back to her time and tells him that he was right about the couple found dead on the train tracks earlier, offering to buy him drinks the next day, but Barry is unsure.

Synopsis for "Rational Thought"

As Barry plans to go the Apollo moon landing anniversary, he overhears police chatter about a child trapped among high voltage power lines due to an accident. After rescuing the kid named Ruse, he is stung by static electricity from her hands. Later at the Apollo anniversary, the astronaut who has been invited as a guest claims the moon landing was faked. This puzzles Barry, who decides to talk to the Green Lantern Hal Jordan in order to take pictures of the moon lander.

While running, Barry overhears a bunch of animals talking and is bewildered. He decides to run a lap around the world but instead falls off its edge, being surprised that the Earth is flat and he can breathe in space. Returning to Earth, he questions two fishermen who state that he should have turned back after seeing the great ice wall. Barry realizes that something has happened to him and it may be due to Ruse who had stinged him with electricity earlier.

Back at his CSI lab, Barry finds that he was injected with nanites by Ruse and they start feeding him false information when he runs. Discovering where the signals directing the nanites are coming from, he first decides to get rid of the machines by vibrating through a mountain full of iron ore. Flash then finds and ties up the Trickster who had been the one feeding directions to the nanites, realizing Ruse was just a robot before turning Axel over.

Synopsis for "Gorilla Warfare, Part 2: Last Ape Standing"

This story is reprinted from The Flash (Volume 4) #14.

Evolution is a long, slow process. Sometimes, though, evolution can happen in a flash, and one night, generations ago, one gorilla learned that first hand.

Now, The Flash is on the run from another gorilla: Grodd. He and an army of intelligent gorillas invaded Central City just hours ago, all so that he could claim his birthright - the full power of the Speed Force - by eating Flash's brain. Despite his speed, Flash can barely stay ahead of Grodd, because Grodd also has access to the Speed Force. Still, Barry hopes that his enhanced strength will put him at an advantage - but it doesn't. His punch to Grodd's face actually shatters his own armour, exposing his bare arm.

Earlier, Turbine had visited Darryl Frye and Patty Spivot at the Central City Police Department. He reveals that the pods crashing down on the city are part of a gorilla invasion, as part of a plan to take the Flash's Speed Force. Their futures depend on preventing that from happening. Even though he had promised Patty to help her find Barry Allen, Turbine insists that they find someone who can help him first.

Elsewhere, Daniel West hopes that his sister Iris is home, because he's just got out of prison, and he wants to prove that he can be a good brother. Unfortunately, with gorilla pods crashing down all over the city, and no reply at her door, he sees no option but to break it down. He discovers mail on her floor postmarked from nearly three months ago, and wonders where Iris might have gone. Meanwhile, outside, the city is a wreck.

The wreck that Daniel sees is the result of a mental manipulation by one of the gorilla elders. He has been forced by Grodd into an amplification machine that uses his mental energy to project an image of a wrecked Central City to prevent anyone from coming to the city. However, it will take more minds to keep the illusion going - human minds.

Elsewhere, the Rogues are struggling to fight the army of gorillas, and struggling to come to a consensus as to what they should actually do. The Snart siblings are feuding over who is actually leader of the Rogues, and it is becoming an annoyance for the other members. Eventually, though, they discover that the gorillas are taking entire bus-loads of humans hostage, and all of the Rogues agree that that will not stand.

Barry is struggling to take down Grodd, given that the gorilla seems to be so much more powerful, with his super speed. Not to mention that ever since his mother was attacked by one fifteen years ago, Barry has actually been a bit afraid of gorillas. This is not helped by the beating that Grodd serves him.

Long ago, the first gorilla to be touched by the Speed Force foresaw the future's path to darkness, and decided to act in order to prevent it. Unfortunately, he arrived fifteen years too early. He had arrived at the Central City Zoo, and was soon captured, after attacking several animals (and Nora Allen). Now, after fifteen years in captivity, Turbine and Patty are there to see that gorilla. As soon as he sees them, he speaks, introducing himself as Solovar.

Within the Speed Force, Iris West and her trapped companions are in the path of a charging wooly mammoth. Hoping for some kind of cover, Iris spots a tank nearby, and hopes that it will be their shelter.

Grodd's powerful attacks shatter Barry's protective suit to the point that his face is unmasked. Patty, Solovar, and Turbine arrive from far enough away that they can tell that the Flash has not long for this world. Patty despairs, but Solovar explains that they still have parts to play, and Flash will need Patty in particular soon. They watch as Grodd raises a metal sign-pole over his head, and intends to thrust it deep into the Flash's chest.

At the last second, Solovar appears in the weapon's path, and it skewers him. All the same, Flash is saved, and - finally able to see his face - Patty realizes that he and Barry Allen are one and the same.

Synopsis for "The End"

This story is reprinted from Green Arrow (Volume 6) #1.

Having partnered up with Black Canary, Green Arrow prowls the Seattle Docks for the Underground Men who have been trafficking women and children for the Ninth Circle. Queen and Drake drop down and begin to thin out their enemies. Though Henry radios in a warning about their reinforcements Ollie is unfazed as Emiko emerges from the shadows to help. Soon the trio manage to stop the Underground Men and the SPD arrive. Ollie, surprised by the presence of Queen Industry crates, tracks down Ezra Warren - a worker on the docks - and offers to double the pay he is getting for colluding.

Queen and Drake soon find themselves in bed, waking up and preparing breakfast for themselves and Emiko. Oliver takes Dinah out for a motorbike ride as he tells her what he believes to be "happiness" but Dinah points out that only his relationship with Emiko is the only one not based upon money. Dinah leaves him while he feels down and he seeks the advice of an old business partner Cyrus Broderick. As Queen leaves Cyrus to go home, the businessman pulls out a phone and ominously says "it's time".

From the shadows, arrows and darts fly at Oliver. He whirls around in time to watch Shado swing at him, he manages to deflect her but soon Emiko enters the room and, despite Oliver shouting for her to run, she knocks an arrow and looses it straight into Oliver's back. Elsewhere Cyrus returns home and finds his mask and addresses the Ninth Circle as their illusive leader.

Synopsis for "Can't Go Home Again"

This story is reprinted from Blue Beetle (Volume 7) #2.

Earlier:
In the break at school, Jaime encounters the woman with no eyes again, this time accompanied by another man. He learns that the man has surrounded them with a damper field and Jaime is the only one who can see them. As the woman scans for his powers, the Scarab lashes out at her. Unaware that it was the scarab, the man carries the woman off, telling Jaime that he made a big mistake messing with the posses.

Later at the garage, Jaime hears that he is allowed to work part time in the garage now. He notices the man from last time accompanied by a small group of thugs. They manage to corner him in an alley and Jaime tells the group once again that it wasn't him that hurt the woman. A woman named Bonita tries to read his mind. Suddenly, the armor goes on to break the woman's arm and in the process, he starts beating up the group. As Jaime arrives at home he somehow learns that Bonita is pregnant.

As he climbs to the window, he hears an argument. His parents worry over why he hasn't come home today. His father goes to check on him, convinced that his wife just missed him come in.

Present:
Jaime stumbles around somewhere in Texas naked. His first priority is to acquire some pants, so he steals an old shirt from the dumpster near a gas station. He is suddenly surprised by the owner holding a hand gun who had him confused for a coyote. He offers him what was in the bin (it was a "good will" dumpster after all). Jaime lies about his condition, telling the man that he was robbed and dumped nearby. The man is even friendly enough to give him something to eat and offers him a place to stay.

On the way, he offers Jaime his phone to call his parents, but he declines, not wanting to worry his mother too much. As Jaime climbs to the window into his own room, he surprises his little sister that is sleeping there. Afraid, she cries for her parents who come to her aid. They find that their son has returned after a whole year.
