Uncle Philip is the uncle of Bruce Wayne, which makes him an important figure relating to Batman. Following the deaths of Martha Kane and Thomas Wayne at the hands of mugger Joe Chill, Philip took custody of young Bruce. Bruce was also raised during this time by Mrs. Chilton, Philip's housekeeper, who they did not realize was Joe Chill's mother. Originally, he was a brother of Thomas Wayne, but the events of Zero Year established him as a maternal uncle on the Kane side of the family. Uncle Philip was created by E.
