Synopsis for Captain Marvel: "Capt. Marvel and the Amazing Trip into Time"

In Billy Batson's history class, the teacher mentions how some people seem to just vanish mysteriously from history, like how Benedict Arnold disappeared while fleeing after his betrayal. Billy mulls over this until the story comes across his desk of Judge Arnold Benedict suddenly disappearing, and after looking over his picture notices the man's an exact physical match of Benedict Arnold! Captain Marvel's summoned and goes to the lab of Professor Vanna, and between the two of them they build a time machine so Marvel can go back to the time of Benedict Arnold's disappearance and return the man to his place in the 20th century. The machine doesn't work quite as they hoped, transporting Marvel to Benjamin Franklin's home in France instead of the American colonies like he'd intended. Nonetheless with his speed Marvel easily flies across the ocean in a matter of minutes, nabs Arnold when he's about to flee on the boat and brings him back to the 20th century.

Professor Vanna accidentally activates the time machine while trying to adjust it to work properly, then emerges transformed into Dr. Sivana! The trip through time brought him back to two months previous, before Marvel made him drink the formula that turned him into an honest man. The surprise of seeing his nemesis returned makes Captain Marvel fall into the machine and emerge in ancient times as Billy. More perplexing, his magic word doesn't work and he's captured by savages and left as an offering for an old man in a cave. The old man saves him, then takes him back to the time machine in a rocket ship, along the way explaining Billy's powers didn't work in this time because it's before any of the elders who empower Captain Marvel existed. As Billy enters the time machine, the old man cackles with amusement at the trick they're about to pull on Sivana, which puzzles Billy, as he never mentioned the evil scientist. Marvel emerges from the machine back in the 40's, and this time the surprise causes Sivana to fall into the time machine, which explodes and burns down the whole building.

Out on the street, Billy remembers the date on the machine just before Sivana disappeared, and when the old man said he'd originated...could he have been Sivana from the future?

Synopsis for "Ibis the Invincible"

Rameses the undead pharaoh is sealed in his tomb, but with no other recourse left to him, opens a trapdoor leading to the netherworld to seek aid from the black beings who live there. He answers a sphinx's riddle and gains help from the gods Bes and Khor also. They go to a masquerade party to capture Ibis, but capture a local who's disguised himself as the hero instead of the real Ibis (who's dressed as a cowboy). Ibis follows them back to the tomb and after rescuing the captive, agrees to answer the Sphinx's riddle. When he succeeds, he gains the service of the beast. It chases Rameses and Bes into the depths of the tomb to the banks of the river of the dead. The sphinx slays Bes, but Rameses dives into the waters and swims away, unaffected as he's already dead. Ibis conjures a boat to pursue his enemy.
