He's gotten a death threat from someone named Lowlife Looie, and because of all the people who he talks to on the show, Mr. Agony doesn't even remember what he said, but goes to lock himself in his room. Desperate for a host for the show, Sterling Morris has Billy dress up as Mr. Agony for the show, which that day happens to involve a parade of famous heroes coming on Mr. Agony's show to get advice on showing their sensitive side to their sweethearts.

Lowlife Looie then shows up and tries to kill Mr. Agony with a machine gun hidden in a trombone. Billy changes to Captain Marvel and easily subdues him, then when the thug comes around, Billy finally gets the story behind what's going on: Looie's girlfriend came on the show, and was advised to marry another crook, Bob the Butch, instead of him. Prompting Lowlife Looie to try to murder Mr. Agony in revenge.

The amorous pair happen to be listening to the show, and when Billy advises the moll to marry Looie, she says that's what she has to do, prompting Bob to go off in a murderous rage to the studio this time. Billy changes to Captain Marvel to have a chance of surviving being caught in the middle of a lover's quarrel between two kill-crazed crooks, prompting the moll to attack Marvel too for hurting her suitors. Marvel changes back to Billy, who wonders how he can possibly sort out this mess. Fortunately, he's saved from having to when a cop comes by and arrests Looie, Bob and the moll for causing a public disturbance.

Synopsis for Ibis the Invincible: "The Slap-Happy Spook"

Raymond Boyer's unable to sell a country house because it happens to be haunted by a prankish ghost--his latest customer Thorndyke running away in fear--prompting him to ask Ibis for help excorcising it. Suddenly a buyer comes in, but the cash he hands over vanishes in a puff of smoke, as he was actually the undead prankster in disguise. Ibis springs out, and the ghost turns himself into a swordsman and then a gangster with a machine gun to attack the heroic magician, who effortlessly deflects the weapons, prompting the ghost to flee.

Ibis gives Taia the Ibistick so she can protect herself if the ghost comes after her, then suddenly comes in and asks for it back. Only for a second Ibis to enter the room, revealing the one who took the Ibistick to be the ghost in disguise. He tries to use the want to blast Ibis with lightning, only, as always, for the spell to backfire on the evil perpetrator. As he's already dead, this only dispels his Ibis disguise and makes him flee again.

Figuring only a ghost can beat a ghost, Ibis commands his wand to make him dead, then bring him back after a few minutes. He beats the ghost up with ectoplasmic fists of fury, and it flees the house with all possible haste. Ibis sees Thorndyke, the buyer from before, and realizes Thorndyke's a magician who made the house seem haunted to drive down the price. However Thorndyke leaves muttering about the failure of the "real ghost", leaving Ibis confounded about his little adventure.
