Synopsis for "Paper Dolls, Chapter One"
Agent 355, Yorick Brown, and Allison Mann have been given safe passage to Australia in order to find Ampersand by Captain Belleville after unknowingly riding on a drug smuggling ship.[1] In Sydney, tabloid reporter Paloma West aggressively runs down rumors of a last living man and will pay handsomely to any woman who can give her a story. Unbeknownst to her, he is aboard the H.M.A.S. Williamson in a harbor not far from her.
Yorick wants to pause his mission to find Ampersand now that he is in Australia, where his fiancee Beth Deville was studying anthropology when the gendercide happened three years prior. Agent 355 relents over Allison's protests and gives him 24 hours to investigate if Beth is around Sydney or if he can otherwise get in touch with her. The two head to an address that Yorick has associated with her fieldwork and they find a message scrawled on the wall to Beth from her fellow anthropology student Margo and are immediately accosted by a gang of racist heroin addicts. Yorick escapes the fracas, but is spotted by a woman who tips off Paloma.
She catches up with the duo while they are searching for Beth or Margo and tazes Agent 355. She forces Yorick to strip nude and takes a picture of him, scoring the biggest scoop in years.
