Final Crisis: Resist #1 is a one-shot with a cover date of December, 2008.
Synopsis for "Resist"
TD+0 [1]
In Antarctica, Darkseid's Justifiers overrun Checkmate's bunker. White King Michael Holt (Mister Terrific), Black Queen Sasha Bordeaux, and Black King Taleb Beni Khalid take refuge in a safe room with White King's Bishop Thinker (A.I.). However, Sasha Bordeaux is exposed to the Anti-Life Equation. Her nanotech takes over and shuts her down to avoid completely being overtaken by the Equation.
TD+1
Checkmate Pawn Snapper Carr uses his teleportation powers to join Holt, Bordeaux, who remains comatose, Khalid and Thinker in the safe room of Checkmate's Antarctic base. Wearing a bio-suit to keep him from being infected by the Anti-Metagene Virus, Snapper begins using his teleportation powers and to travel to various sites that house weapons and technology that Darkseid could use. He destroys or disables the weapons and technology and returns to the safe room.
TD+4
Snapper, working from the Checkmate Antarctic base's safe room, uses his teleportation powers to travel to a S.T.A.R. Labs bioweapons lab and destroy it.
TD+5
Snapper, Holt, Khalid and Thinker learn that Firehawk is on the Justice League of America Watchtower and may not be infected by the Anti-Life Equation. Snapper teleports there but finds that Firehawk has been infected. Surprisingly, Cheetah is also aboard the station and uninfected. Cheetah aids Snapper in defeating Firehawk and briefly flirts with Snapper, before escaping through one of the League's teleporters.
TD+11, 14, 19, 21, 23
Snapper undertakes more missions trying to find allies or destroying or disabling weapons and technology to keep them out of the hands of Darkseid's minions, before returning to the Checkmate Antarctic base's safe room.
TD+25
On a quest for medical supplies, Snapper encounters an injured Cheetah in a hermetically sealed operating room. He heads inside and, after some resistance, helps Cheetah tend to her wounds. Cheetah then seduces the willing Carr, and they sleep together. However, Gorilla Grodd, wearing a Justifier Helmet breaks into the room. Although Carr has had negative effects when attempting to teleport more than just himself, he rolls the dice and, rather than abandoning her, teleports with Cheetah. Fortunately, they make it back to the Checkmate Antarctic base's safe room safely. However, Snapper's exposure to the Anti-Metagene Virus causes Snapper to lose his powers.
TD+25
At Checkmate Antarctic base's safe room, Cheetah chafes at the confinement. She reproaches the others, purported heroes, for not having a plan. Snapper responds asking her what she wants them to do, saying that it is not like they have piles of weapons lying around. This statement sparks an idea in Holt. He reveals that after the Infinite Crisis, Checkmate took a census and found that there were nearly eleven-and-a-half million people out there still carrying dormant OMAC nanotech. They could be activated with a transmission of the correct Brother Eye code. Cheetah points out that they do not have access to Brother Eye. Holt responds that there is another way. Bordeaux's nanotech is second-generation OMAC technology, which was implanted in her by Brother Eye. If they activate Sasha for just a short time, they should be able to retrieve the code. Cheetah responds that Sasha has been exposed and activating her to get the code will cause her to be completely dominated by the Anti-Life Equation. Holt responds that Sasha would demand they try it. They still have to figure out a way to broadcast the activation code. It is revealed that the safe room contains the Code Zoo, which is a prison for many sentient A.I. Though they are hostile to Checkmate, Holt appeals to their self-preservation, telling them that if they do not agree, everything will be destroyed, including them. They agree. Holt activates Sasha and Thinker interfaces with her, retrieving the code. However, they are not fast enough, and the nanotech completely subsumes Sasha, terminating all biofunctions. However, the programs carry the message effectively and activate the OMACs. The OMACs immediately begin attacking and eventually free them from the safe room. Those who were in the safe room join them to resist Darkseid.

Notes
- The day the Anti-Life Equation is released is described as “Total Defeat,” making this “TD+0.”
- This issue is reprinted in Final Crisis Companion.
- Among the sentient A.I. programs imprisoned in the Code Zoo are fragments of Brother Eye code, Brainiac code, Eradicator code, and Thanagarian code. Also seen is J.A.K.E. 6.1 code. J.A.K.E. 6.1 was an ally of Checkmate, so its placement here is curious.
