Final Crisis Aftermath: Run! #1 is an issue of the series Final Crisis Aftermath: Run! (Volume 1) with a cover date of July, 2009.

Synopsis for "Step One: Make a Lot of Enemies"

Mike Miller, the Human Flame, wakes up in a hospital to find that he's the most wanted man on the planet. The superheroes of the world want to put him on trial for killing Martian Manhunter, and the supervillains all blame him for their being brought under the control of Darkseid. His only hope of surviving is to get as far away from everyone as possible.

Of course, he needs money first, so he goes to collect money owed him by a junkie friend, Joey. Joey's blown all his cash on drugs, but he convinces Mike to help him with a job offering security to a drug dealer who's making a buy from the Kyrgyzstani mob. Mike agrees, thinking the Kyrgyzstani would be an easy mark, but they turn out to be, in his words, "serious mothers". The job quickly goes south when Joey's itchy trigger finger causes him to shoot the mob boss, and it's all that the two of them can do to steal the mob's suitcase full of cash before they open fire.

Mike and Joey draw the other thugs into a burger joint, where Mike manages to get a hold of a can of hairspray and a lighter. He sets the lead Kyrgyzstani enforcer on fire and then runs off with the suitcase. Joey is not so lucky, and ends up dead in the restaurant's ball pit.

Still needing his equipment, Mike goes to visit Jan, his wife, and Emily, his daughter. He manages to convince them that he missed them, but he's really only there to pick up his old crime suit prototype. With his stuff re-acquired, he ties up Jan and leaves.

Meanwhile, Firestorm and Green Lantern John Stewart investigate the scene of the shootout and determine that Mike Miller was responsible.

Mike has another run-in with the Kyrgyzstanis, unleashing his flames on them. Unfortunately, the prototype is old, and the lighter-fluid tank is not quite stable...
