Synopsis for "Souls of Fire"

In Moscow, stripped of the soul of Firestorm and forced to fission by his clone Svarozhich, Ron Raymond and Mikhail Arkadin meet in person for the first time, and despite their language barrier, attempt to reform Firestorm. Feeling Firestorm's soul being drawn away, Svarozhich determines that they pose a threat to him and must be killed. Raymond and Arkadin flee into a subway to which they are tracked by Arkadin's niece Firebird and her team of heroes Soyuz, who use their powers to hold back Svarozhich's pursuit. As their pursuer prepares to fill the subway tunnel with flames, Vikhor of Soyuz uses his control over wind to lift them out of the tunnel through an access hatch. With Svarozhich off their trail, Firebird dismisses the rest of Soyuz and suggests they bring the foreign Raymond to another uncle, Dmitri Arkadin, to avoid suspicion.

In his brother's home, Mikhail Arkadin reveals his identity with Raymond as Firestorm, and their relationship with Svarozhich. When Firebird states that she plans to erase her uncle's knowledge of their secrets once he's helped them, Mikhail Arkadin reveals that her psychic powers are hereditary and overpowers his family members with a mental assault, only to back down when faced with physical threats by Raymond. Relenting, he agrees to take them to an acquaintance who can help them against Svarozhich.

In General Trofimov's dacha, his daughter, Arkadin's estranged wife, speaks with her mother about their time apart and conflicts with their respective husbands. She surprises her mother by reaffirming that she shares her husband's support for the state-persecuted Andrei Sakharov.

Back in Moscow, Arkadin's brother introduces them to his mentor Gregori Eilovitch Rasputin, who asks Raymond to relate the story of the accident that created Firestorm. Rasputin, dismissing his version of events as absurd, claims to know the true origins of Firestorm.
