Flash/Green Lantern: Faster Friends #1 is an issue of the series Flash/Green Lantern: Faster Friends (Volume 1) with a cover date of March, 1997.
Synopsis for the 1st Story
After defeating Alien X and escaping from his bomb, Wally West visits Jay at the hospital, where the original Flash explains that his hyper metabolism is killing him, and he'll be dead by morning. Joan doesn't take the news too kindly, and she runs off in tears. Before Jay can console her, news about an alien invasion draw their attention. The Flashes realize that Alien X summoned a swarm of aliens before dying, so they head off to the arctic and meet with the Green Lanterns.
Back in Alien X's ship, the heroes learn about the invaders' swarm-like nature, comparing them to an army of ants or cockroaches hell-bent on ravaging the planet. Suddenly, a gate opens, and they stop the swarm coming through it. Kyle and Wally rush through before it closes and they arrive at the aliens' dimension. However, they swap minds and suits. Not knowing how to use their powers, Kyle and Wally start heading toward a citacel.
On Earth, Alan and Scott find other portals that open, and they decide to go through them. Before leaving, Jay runs at high speed and gives Joan a goodbye kiss. They arrive separately at the aliens' dimension, and they find the young and confused heroes - Alan finds Wally in Kyle's body, and Jay finds Kyle in Wally's body. Accidentally, Kyle -who has Wally's memories- mentions Jay's dying condition to Alan, who doesn't take the news too kindly either. The two pairs reunite at the citadel of the aliens' queen. Kyle and Wally recover their respective bodies and powers, and they soon encounter a horde of aliens protecting their mother. The queen and her swarm grow weaker as the heroes take care of the horde, but so does Jay, who can't fight anymore. The Flashes, having vibrational powers, sense the mother's psych, so Jay tries to reason with her and convinces her to stop her deadly rampages. The mother opens a rift and leaves the planet, but makes four portals for the heroes to return home.
Upon seeing the four portals, Alan realizes that going through one interdimensional portal would scramble them, just like it did to Wally and Kyle, because the swarm is a hive mind with no individuality. Before going back to Earth, Alan proposes Jay to go together through the portal because maybe his magic could mix with Jay and cure his disease. But Flash denies the offer, because he doesn't want to take the risk of infecting Alan with his disease, and he runs off to the portal. Alan catches up to his friend in time to grab his collapsing body and go through the gate together. The four heroes arrive on Earth, and both Alan and Jay end up completely healthy. The old heroes notice the harsh relationship between Kyle and Wally, and Jay tells them that they'll eventually become friends just like he did with Alan, and maybe become the greatest team of all.
