Synopsis for "The Tale of the Mystic Urn"

In Chinatown, elderly and wealthy Ti Fu receives an ornamental urn that, when unstoppered, releases a strange incense. A disembodied voice claiming to be the spirits of his honorable ancestors tells the ensorcelled Ti Fu to open his safe and hand the contents over, which he obediently does. Carter Hall's on-hand buying some exotic ancient weapons of the Orient from a neighbor, and catches some thugs running down the street with Ti Fu's worldly wealth. He pounds them as Hawkman and recovers most of the money, but they manage to get away. After some studying, Hawkman finds a rare South American plant that can have this zombie-like effect on its victims, which can be cured with common salt. He sets a trap for one of the targeted wealthy Chinese, capturing the crooks running the scam this time, and the heroics of the son of the antique dealer Hawkman was buying weapons from earns him the affections of the girl of his dreams. At the ceremony Shiera teases Carter with the prospect of matrimony.
