Flash Comics #6 is an issue of the series Flash Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of June, 1940.

Synopsis for The Flash: "The Olympic Adventure"

Jay Garrick and Joan Williams attend an Olympic trial track meet at their alma mater, Western University. The favored athletes all lose their races, causing Flash to suspect foul play. He enters the races himself in order to stop the gamblers winning any money, and to expose the gambling ring. He also exposes his dual identity, as he enters the races under his own name, and does not hold back at all; Joan calls him Flash in front of hundreds of people. As it, of course, turns out, the track stars have been drugged to keep them from performing at top levels. Flash forces confessions from the men behind the scheme: J. Edwin Dorn (assistant commissioner at Western University), Maloney (a gambling boss), and Jonesy (a trainer), and the races are rescheduled to allow for fair competition.

Synopsis for The King: "The Witch"

The Witch steals a safe, but none of her men can open it. She hires "Silent Steve" Beroni to crack the safe, but the King has taken Beroni's place. The King opens the safe, which contains a fortune in jewels. He leaves the jewels with the Witch, but he returns later and steals them back from her. When the real Beroni arrives, the Witch realizes that she was tricked. The King mocks his foe, then escapes out a window, having defeated her for the second time.

Synopsis for Hawkman: "Sheba, Queen of the Desert"

After rescuing American secret agent Ione Craig from a cult of assassins, Hawkman is forced to land in the desert to repair his damaged wings. When he leaves Ione to scout the nearby area, she is captured by the slavers of Sheik Abdullah. Hawkman tracks these horsemen, and strikes, using a high-pitched screeching whistle in his helmet to frighten both horses and men, he swoops down and catches Miss Craig. One man attempts to lasso the hero, but is dragged into the air himself, then tries to fight the now-tired Hawkman on the ground, but ends up with his neck broken. His buddies arrive on horseback; Hawkman knocks the leader off his steed and commandeers the horse, and moves to grab Ione, but the horse trips and The Hawk gets jumped, bound, and dragged back to the city, Istanyulq.

In Abdullah's dungeons, while repairing his damaged wings, Hawkman meets Major Brent of the British Royal Army, the sole survivor of a skirmish with Sheba, the blue-skinned, self-proclaimed Queen of the Desert. Sheba has led an uprising and built an army, with the goal of establishing a pan-Arab state, and in a separate conversation, now claims Hawkman from Abdullah. Meanwhile, Ione gets chained up to be sold as a harem slave.

Hawkman is summoned to meet Sheba, but simply flies away, to a British Army outpost he's learned about from Brent. Meanwhile back in Istanyulq, Sheba has Major Brent and Miss Craig thrown into a gladiatorial arena with lions. Hawkman flies in with a bow and arrows, picks off the lions, and frees the prisoners, then the Royal Army shows up and defeats Abdullah's and Sheba's combined forces. Hawkman kills Sheik Abdullah with a dagger and flies Sheba up onto a high tower so she can't escape, and rescues Brent from the last lion. Seemingly all that's left to do is retrieve Sheba from the tower and put her in custody, but she has escaped.

Synopsis for Johnny Thunder: "Tally Ho"

Johnny joins his girlfriend Daisy and her father on a fox hunt. Johnny has trouble with his horse and falls behind. He finds the fox and unwittingly uses his magic Thunderbolt to make it talk. Johnny then protects the fox from the hounds, believing that the discovery of a talking fox will bring him fame and fortune. He succeeds in stopping the hounds, well actually he succeeds in transforming them into ravening wolves. But his power wears off before he can get the fox to speak in front of Daisy.

Synopsis for The Whip: "The Kidnapping"

Marisa Dillon travels north to the town of Danvers where the Whip is in the process of exposing Judge Louis Frawd. The judge has been using convicts from the local prison (John, Frances, Dorothy, et. al.) as his personal servants and blackmailing them. When Marisa begins asking questions, Frawd has her and Rod Gaynor kidnapped (by Talbot & his gang, Pedro et.al.) Rod's servant Carlos is able to free them. While Rod confronts the crooks as the Whip, Marisa locates the district attorney. Frawd's scheme is exposed and the crooks are arrested.

• This is Marisa's 1st abduction.

• The Olympic Adventure is reprinted in Golden Age Flash Archives 1.
  • Some time between Jay Garrick's super-empowering lab accident and the current issue, his alma mater has changed names, from "Midwestern University" to "Western University."
  • Three more forced confessions are obtained by the Flash in this story. Even in 1940 it seems unlikely that these would stand up in court.

• Sheba, Queen of the Desert is reprinted in Golden Age Hawkman Archives 1.
  • Hawkman kills Sheik Abdullah with a dagger. Hawkman's evildoer body count is now up to at least nine.
  • Sheba escaped from Hawkman, in a desert, and was never seen again.
