- This is wrong. Barry changed it back. I remember... I was ripped out of time by the Reverse-Flash. Thawne turned me into a living paradox that shouldn't exist. Yet I did. I tried to force Bruce to quit... but I was cruel. And I was wrong. I realized the world needed my son. That he made the Batman into something good, unlike me. I remember Darkseid. His eyes glowing... I should be dead.

Synopsis for "The Clockwork Killer: Prologue"
Batman/Bruce Wayne enlists the help of Mime and Marionette to sneak into the Time Masters' headquarters to steal a snowglobe that houses the Flashpoint Timeline in order to prevent his father from being erased from existence. This causes Thomas Wayne to wake up once again in his reality where Oswald Cobblepot, who works for him in this timeline, tells him that Harvey Dent wants to talk to him. Harvey tells Thomas that his wife is obsessed with Martha Wayne who in this reality became the Joker. It is revealed that Wonder Woman did not kill Aquaman after all, but Kal-El, who is now known as Superman, was freed and now the people are afraid of a Kryptonian invasion. Thomas confronts this world's Barry Allen, but Barry doesn't have his powers yet. Thomas tries to recreate the experiment that gave Barry his powers, but an henchman of Aquaman destroys the chemicals and Barry dies in the lightning strike. Harvey Dent was on his way to rescue Thomas, but a man with a harpoon destroys the car, killing Harvey. Thomas saves Harvey's son, Dexter, and confronts the man with the harpoon, who says Aquaman sent him to stop Barry Allen from becoming The Flash. In a rage, Thomas kills the unknown assassin. Back on Earth 0, Bruce is confronted by Corky Baxter who warns him that Rip Hunter and the Time Masters will come after him.[1]

Notes
- Batman/Thomas Wayne's story continues from Justice League Incarnate #4 where he was apparently murdered by Darkseid's Omega Beams.
- The Flashpoint Timeline is restored to existence.
- Its continuity directly continues from Batman (Volume 3) #22 where it was erased from existence by Doctor Manhattan.
- However, the timeline seems to be slightly different than its original version as Wonder Woman has been somehow defeated by Aquaman.
- Another consequence is the first appearance of Barry Allen's Flashpoint counterpart that didn't exist in the original Flashpoint as he had been replaced by the New Earth Barry Allen.
- Rip Hunter's journal introduces the Divine Continuum as a representation of the reality.
- This concept is completely explained in issue #5.
- There are a few errors in the Divine Continuum scheme:
- The Sphere of the Gods is represented as outside the main Multiverse but this is false.
- Earth 0's alternate name, Prime Earth, is mispelled as "Primer Earth";
- Thomas Wayne's letter was destroyed by Reverse-Flash in Batman (Volume 3) #21 but, in this story, it is intact, suggesting that this is another change due to the rebirth of Creation.
Trivia
- Thomas Wayne being brought back to his own timeline by Darkseid's Omega Beams is reminiscent of Batman/Bruce Wayne being sent back in time after "dying" at the hands of Darkseid during the Final Crisis.
- Rip Hunter's Chalk Board from the Time Masters Lab references many recent events, including:
- "Deathstroke" murdering Ra's al Ghul in Shadow War: Alpha #1 as well as Batman suspecting and investigating Slade Wilson's innocence from Batman (Volume 3) #122;
- The "death" of the Justice League from Justice League (Volume 4) #75;
- The Legion of Super-Heroes traveling back in time in Justice League vs. the Legion of Super-Heroes #1;
- One of the notes mentions the averting of 5G which is an out-of-universe nod to the supposed 5G relaunch that was replaced by the Future State storyline;
- In-universe, this line implies that the events of the Earth 5G Future, which were foresaw by Doctor Manhattan, will never come to pass on Prime Earth;
- The line, "his daughter will rejoin the Justice Society to save it", is a reference to Huntress/Helena Wayne from a possible future of Prime Earth and foreshadows the events of The New Golden Age #1 and Justice Society of America (Volume 4);
- Many past events are referenced or featured in flashbacks, including:
- New Earth Barry Allen going back in time to save his mother from the Reverse-Flash and causing the Flashpoint;
- Flashpoint Aquaman and Wonder Woman causing a global war between the Atlanteans and the Amazons;
- Barry Allen having his powers restored in the Flashpoint Timeline after being hit once again by a lightning;
- Thomas Wayne killing New Earth Reverse-Flash before Barry was able to restore the timeline;
- The supposed undoing of the Flashpoint Timeline (at the hands of Doctor Manhattan);
- Post-Flashpoint Reverse-Flash displacing Thomas Wayne to Earth as a revenge for his past self's death;
- Thomas Wayne allying himself with Bane in order to force Bruce Wayne into giving up the mantle of Batman during the City of Bane storyline;
- Darkseid "killing" Thomas Wayne during the final clash between him and the Justice League Incarnate on Earth 7.
- A note on Rip Hunter's journal mentions "Clark" and "Sally". This is a reference to the Watchmen Universe characters, Clark Dreiberg, the new host of Doctor Manhattan's Anti-Crisis energy, and Sally Dreiberg appeared for the first time in Doomsday Clock #12.
- While in his Batcave, Thomas Wayne says a line, "Everything matters"" and replies "Nothing matters" which are respectively references to Wonder Woman's "Everything matters" from Dark Nights: Death Metal #6. and Doctor Manhattan's famous line, "Nothing ends", from the epilogue of Watchmen #12.
- The birth of Anita Maez was foretold by Doctor Manhattan before returning to his reality in Doomsday Clock #12.
- Flashpoint Barry Allen's address is "1956Showcase Drive Apt. #4" which is a nod to Barry Allen's first appearance in Showcase #4 that was released in 1956.
- His death is heavily inspired by the death of his Dark Multiverse counterpart from a nightmare world where, as a consequence of this death, the Flashpoint was never undone so Eobard Thawne became the ruler of this Earth as the Flash.
