Synopsis for "The Villain from Valhalla!"

This story is reprinted from Adventure Comics #75.

One night in New York City, a Viking longship glides into a docking slip and ties up. A barbaric, red-bearded, giant figure emerges and stalks down the pier. When accosted by a police watchman, the murderous giant smashes his skull with a large heavy hammer. He strolls down Broadway, finds a bank, and smashes his way into it with his extremely powerful electrical hammer, then begins to loot it. More police arrive, shooting ensues, bullets bounce right off of this brute! On his way out of town he destroys a police car, by flinging his hammer straight through it, then he boards his longship and sails away, laughing uproariously.

That evening the Sandman and Sandy take to the rooftops to travel undetected to the waterfront. Thor has already returned, and is easily winning a melee against a squad of cops. He's throwing them around one-handed, when Sandman charges into him! "Thor" is knocked down, but the Sandman has knocked himself out! Sandy charges in and is taken out with one kick.

Minutes later the Sandman regains consciousness, but Sandy is still out. Ambulances arrive and carry Sandy, and a number of policemen, to City Hospital. Plenty of able-bodied cops are now on the scene, and Sandman rallies them up to immediately pursue this Norseman and his raiders, no heavier weapons, no reinforcements, no nothing, let's go. They go!

Casting off and setting sail in his longship, the giant divests himself of his effective but very uncomfortable, transparent, bulletproof suit, and his crew has already done the same. This turns out to be premature, as Sandman leads a charge of cops down the pier. The fake vikings pick up their weapons and pile over the side to fight the cops on the pier. A fleet of police motorcycles and riot cars sweeps onto the scene, and a desperate battle is waged on the piers of New York City! At the center of it, the Sandman punches the daylights out of the fake thunder god, then drags him out of the melee by his ankles. The arresting officers identify "Thor" as Fairy-Tales Fenton, a metallurgist turned criminal. Fenton spends the next few months in a hospital bed with his limbs in traction.
