Synopsis for "Dead Man's Hand"
The JLI members who have reformed as a group are calling themselves the Superbuddies. A pair of criminals deliver some glowing orbs to the Superbuddies headquarter. They wait outside until there is an implosion and the orbs fly away from the headquarters. The orbs contain the members of the Superbuddies and deliver them to detainment cells in Roulette's hideaway. Using mind control, Roulette sets up a fight to the death, arena style, between Captain Atom and Mary Marvel. The two begin fighting and Mary Marvel tears Captain Atom apart. She holds the wounded Captain Atom by his hair and awaits Roulette's judgment. Roulette gives Mary the thumbs down signal, indicating she is to kill Captain Atom.
