Foxy is an infant cosmos and the "baby" of The Deep Change, incarnated on Earth 0 as the West family's pet dog.
History
The Deep Change's first creations, the Arc Angles, took advantage of the Deep Change's weakened state while it was "pregnant" with Foxy. They used the Flash Family and The Rogues in an elaborate scheme to destroy the Deep Change and therefore time itself, leaving all of reality frozen in an instant of perfect order.[1]
The Arc Angles were foiled by the Flash Family and their allies. The "birth" proceeded as planned and the Deep Change's "baby" was sent to Earth 0 in the form of a small dog. The Flashes' memories, or possibly the timeline itself, was altered so that they believed Foxy was the West's pet who Wally had owned since before he even became Kid Flash.[2][3] The Spectre sensed Foxy's creation and described him as a cosmos-shaking new power far greater than him.[4]
After the events of Absolute Power, the Wests went on a family vacation to Skartaris, taking Foxy along with them. During the trip Wally West briefly realised that he could not remember when the family got Foxy, but quickly lost the thought.[5] Although superpowers usually did not work on Skataris due to the magic suffusing the realm, Foxy acted as a source of power for the Flashes and their powers continued to work within a one-mile radius of him.
A dark cloud gathered around Skartaris' unsetting sun and the Wests were attacked by a mysterious reptilian girl wielding magic. Wade West summoned Inspector Pilgrim from the future to help and Pilgrim, who knew Foxy's true nature, drew energy from him to blast the girl away. He told them that there was a source of unprecedented power nearby and then teleported away again. As the Wests were hiking towards a gap in the cloud which sunlight could still pass through, Irey was suddenly able to see Foxy as a glowing being of pure energy and realised he was the power source Pilgrim mentioned. She was about to tell her parents but Jai stopped her, revealing that he could see it too.[6]
While Wally and Linda were distracted fighting the Weather Wizard, who had also come to Skataris, Jai told Irey that he believed Foxy was the Deep Change's "baby" and their memories had been altered to accommodate him. Irey asked if Foxy knew what he was and Jai said he didn't know, but hoped that by loving him they could ensure he was a good reality when he ascended to his ultimate form.[3]
Wally defeated Weather Wizard and they were picked up by Warlord; however, both Wally and Jai were able to sense that something was wrong with the Warlord. Wally whispered to Jai to teleport away to safety and confronted Warlord, who revealed that he was possessed by Eclipso. Jai grabbed Foxy and tried to teleport to safety, but Eclipso magically blocked him. Eclipso, who had extracted his negative emotions with an ancient Atlantean machine, was behaving strangely and eventually dropped the spell. Jai and Foxy teleported away, but rather than join Irey on the surface like they planned, ended up in an underground stone chamber at the bottom of a long staircase. They climbed up the stairs and discovered that they were on the moon.[7]
Jai was overwhelmed and despaired at their situation, especially when his initial attempts to teleport back to Earth failed as some kind of force kept them there. Foxy cuddled with Jai to cheer him up and Jai realised that he may be able to use Foxy's cosmic powers to break through whatever was holding them. He summoned up a "ball" of energy and threw it through a vortex to Wally. Foxy happily chased after it, with Jai following close behind.[4]
Foxy lead Jai through a wormhole back to Skartaris where they reunited with the rest of the family. Eclipso's lover Y'hil destroyed the machine when she learned Eclipso was trying to get her killed, and all of Eclipso's rage flooded back into him. Now filled with ambition and a desire for revenge against Darkseid, he tried to devour the Flash Family, believing that one of them was the source of great power that he could sense nearby. Foxy attacked Eclipso to protect his "pack" and Eclipso realised that he was the power he could sense. He grabbed Foxy and dragged him back through the wormhole. Eclipso absorbed Foxy and ascended to a new form called "Heliophage".[8] However, Foxy continued to resist Eclipso, who was unable to fully absorb him. As such Eclipso was in great pain and could not access the full extent of Foxy's power.[9]
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Divine Empowerment: Foxy is a cosmos-shaking power, greater by far than the wrath of creation.[4]
- Enhanced Senses: Foxy was able to perceive a "shadow in time" and help Jai reveal it as an energy construct.[4]
- Power Distribution: Foxy is a source of the same cosmic energy as The Deep Change. As such the Flash Family's powers continued to work normally within a one-mile radius of him while they were in Skartaris, where superpowers usually do not function due to the magic suffusing the realm.[6] He was also able to release a "burst" of Speed Force energy that allowed Wally to break free of the narrative mind control he was experiencing in Skartaris.[3]
Trivia
- Foxy possesses the intelligence and personality of an average dog and appears to be unaware of his true nature: he refers to his owners as his "pack". However, he does have an instinctive understanding of at least some of his and his owners' powers.[4]
