Frank Chiaramonte (b. June 5, 1942 – d.January 28, 1983) was a comic book artist.

Professional History

Frank Chiaramonte was a professional inker and illustrator. He started his career working for independent comic publishers, newspapers and private advertisers in Cuba. When the regime of Castro forbid American comics on the island, Chiaramonte travelled to Venezuela, where he worked in animation.

His career in American comics started in the late 60s, when be began working for Will Eisner. In the early 70s, he started working for Marvel Comics and by the end of the decade, he began working for DC Comics in collaboration with great artists such as Murphy Anderson, Kurt Schaffenberger, Curt Swan and Win Mortimer. He worked on various titles including Action Comics, Superboy, Detective Comics, Isis and many others.

His last known work was in the comic Superboy Vol 2 34, which was published a few months prior to his untimely death.

Personal History

Chiaramonte was born in Cuba but moved to Venezuela before emigrating to the US in 1967. He attended the St. Alejandro Fine Arts School and other commercial and art schools.

Chiaramonte died in 1983 at the age of 40.
