Franklin Stern was a long-time publisher and owner of the Daily Planet newspaper in Metropolis. His close friend Perry White worked directly underneath him as the paper's editor. This position has lead him to have numerous interactions with the superhero Superman, secretly reporter Clark Kent working at the Planet. Franklin Stern was created by Louise Simonson and Jon Bogdanove, first appearing in Superman: The Man of Steel #27. (1993)
