Rift was the connection between the DC Universe and the Dakotaverse when worlds collided.
History
Fred Bentson was a mail carrier who was native to either Dakota City or Metropolis. He lived two fully functional lives as a mail carrier in both cities/realities. Every time he fell asleep in one world, he woke up in the other. He used to enjoy this double life, but the insomnia began to affect his psyche. He started having terrible dreams of a monster between the worlds chasing him. In his attempt to get cured of this monster, he went to both Alva Technologies in Dakota and Rainforest Technologies MedLab in Metropolis, but the leaders of both groups wanted to monopolize his power and tried experiment on him. During the experiment, he had a mental breakdown, which caused him to evolve into Rift, a powerful reality warper who viewed both worlds as his creation and himself as the only real thing in either universe.

- Reality Alteration: Rifts main ability was to traverse between the DC universe and the Dakotaverse but his powers eventually matured and he developed the power to warp reality on a multiversal scale.
