G.I. Combat #252 is an issue of the series G.I. Combat (Volume 1) with a cover date of April, 1983.

Synopsis for Haunted Tank: "My Ally-- The Enemy!"

The Haunted Tank, and its crew, are driving through the desert in Egypt when they are attacked by Arabic renegades. The renegades don't directly attack the tank, however, but shoot at buried mines around the tank. While the crew manages to drive the tank safely out of the minefield, en route they began receiving orders from Blue Base with their next orders, however an explosion takes out their antenna before they hear the assignment. As they continue through the desert, the heat knocks them all unconscious but the ghost of J.E.B. Stuart guides them to an oasis at Sidi Barani. The men awaken and head for the pond in the oasis only to learn the water's been poisoned. A German tank arrives and the Haunted Tank crew take shelter, believing the Germans have poisoned the water. When they see the Germans heading for a drink, Jeb alerts them that the water has been poisoned which the Germans soon verify. They all are soon attacked by more Arab renegades and the two crews join forces under Jeb (who is the highest ranking of either crew). One member of each crew is injured by gunfire and Jeb rescues the German soldier while the German leader rescues the American one. They manage to defeat most of the renegades and drive the rest off. Then both crews share the water carried by the dead renegades. Jeb lets the German crew leave but they are quickly attacked by Allied forces. Jeb and his crew rescue the Germans again officially taking them prisoner to prevent further harm from coming to them. The leader of the Allied forces reveal they were sent as back up on the mission (which Jeb never heard) which was to prevent the Germans from reaching the oasis.

Synopsis for Kana, the Ninja-Master: "War Isn't Color-Blind"

Control discusses Kana with an unnamed American Colonel. The Colonel is concerned with Kana because 1) Kana is a Japanese citizen and 2) he failed to assassinate Emperor Hirohito (in G.I. Combat #245). Control counters that the failure was Kana's only one to date and his loyalty is to America since the Japanese hung his parents for being too friendly with Westerners. Meanwhile, a B-29 plane is shot down by an enemy AA (anti-aircraft) battery near Kana's island base. Kana, who had been assigned to assist the crew on the plane, dives into the ocean and fends off a shark, leading the crew to shore. While the Captain has no problem working with Kana, civilian Mr. Collins does not trust him. Collins, formerly a plantation owner on Guadalcanal, became a coastal watcher, observing Japanese plane and ship movements and radioing information to the military. He is here helping the military locate the AA battery that prevents American planes from reaching Japan. Collins insists that he can accomplish this without Kana's help and leaves. Three days pass without word from Collins and the Captain orders soldier Winslow to find him with Kana. Winslow doesn't trust Kana either but obeys orders. Winslow follows Kana convinced every move he makes is traitorous. They encounter Japanese soldiers and Winslow kills all but one which Kana allows to leave. Winslow believes this to be proof of Kana's loyalties but Kana reveals he let him live so they could follow him. He leads them to a Shinto temple where they see Collins. Kana believes Collins to be in league with the Japanese while Winslow believes he's been captured and Kana's trying to get Winslow to kill the wrong person. Having had enough, Kana leaves Winslow behind and confronts Collins who really is betraying America. Kana takes Collins down and, with Winslow's help, kills the Japanese soldiers posing as monks.

Synopsis for "Bad-Luck Booty"

Artie, an American soldier, is helping clear enemy soldiers from a devastated Belgian village when he spots a doll shop and goes to swipe a small rag doll for his daughter, despite his colleague, Ron's, warnings about looting. As he's leaving the shop with the doll, he's gunned down by a sniper. He makes Ron promise to get the doll to his girl and Ron agrees. As Ron tries to catch up with his men he fears he has lost the doll and is soon after shot by enemy soldiers. But the doll blocked the bullet and Ron played possum in order to lure out the enemy and kill them. Ron wonders if the doll somehow knew it was responsible for Artie's death and made up for it by saving Ron.

Synopsis for Women at War: "Secret War of a Sergeant"

Sgt. Dale Miller is a female judo instructor in a Missouri ranger training camp in 1942. One of her “trainees” is Captain Perry Franke who has come to recruit Dale for a mission. Dale majored in German and, combined with her blonde hair, could easily pass herself off as German. She and Perry are airdropped into Dusseldorf, Germany where Dale takes on the identity of Helga Schmidt, a factory worker at the Weinrich Machine Works – where they are manufacturing deciphering machines for the German army. Dale's mission is to slip out a machine piece by piece and deliver them to Perry each night. For a week this succeeds but soon Dale is getting suspicious of the guard and she pretends Perry is attacking her one night she believes she's being followed. Soon she has delivered all the parts but Perry needs one more thing: the code manual. The next day Dale stages an accident getting her arm completely bandaged. Later that day she sneaks into a guarded room but, soon after, is confronted by a Lieutenant and his soldiers. Dale's use of judo allows her to escape but the soldiers believe her mission a failure as she has left the code manual. What they don't realize is that she smuggled in a camera (hidden in her new bandages) and has copied what she needed. Perry and Dale leave Germany with Perry asking for a dinner date.

Synopsis for Haunted Tank: "The Ghostly Godfather"

Jeb Stuart wonders to the General why he is the only one able to see him. General J.E.B. Stuart states in order to see him, one must have the second sight of the dying. Soon after, on patrol in Southern Italy, the crew is welcomed by the citizens of a town. An older gentleman presents his daughter and newly-born grandson and he asks one of them to be the godfather. All members of the crew are eager for the honor and as they decide, they are attacked by enemy soldiers and the old man accompanies them, helping in the enemy's defeat though he is wounded. He insists on having the christening before he dies and, as he has developed the second sight, chooses General Stuart as the godfather naming the child Giacomo Stuardo.
