Gabby the Monkey was endowed with speaking ability through operations by Alice O'Day, a scientist.

History

In early 1941, a scientist named Alice O'Day was developing research to give power of speech to animals, in order to help the government in espionage missions. O'Day was killed in a car accident, while she was being kidnapped by bandits who wanted her formula, leaving Gabby as her only talking experiment, and Midnight adopted him as a partner in his crime-fighting career.
