History

Wildstorm

On Earth-50, the island, originally called Parousia Island, was taken over by clan Gamorra in 1543. Centuries later, its tyrannical ruler Kaizen Gamorra was overthrown by the insane immortal John Colt, and Gamorra Island became a factory of horrible cybernetic experiments and illegal technology. When John Colt was overthrown, Kaizen Gamorra returned to power. Shunning biological experiments for more traditional terrorism, Kaizen launched an attack on three major cities of the world (Moscow, London, and Los Angeles), only to be defeated by The Authority.

Kaizen has since returned to the global stage, only this time with promises of more legitimate political behavior. Prior to Armageddon, Kaizen had preparations in place for protecting his island, after having learned of the Reaper Initiative during his time being imprisoned by International Operations, after John Colt's usurpation. Gamorra was protected by its force-field from the global devastation caused by the Reapers, thus becoming the only powerful nation on Earth. The island was then programmed to take flight and directed to UnLondon where it attacked The Authority and their downed Carrier, in order to strip the latter of its technology, in order to travel through the Bleed and conquer other worlds. This was foiled again by The Authority, when the team released a Warhol Virus-infected Apollo to run rampant in the inner sanctum of Gamorra Tower, while separating it from the general population of the island. The infected portion of Gamorra was contained by its force-field and was dropped into the Norwegian Trench in order for the infection to go dormant.

Prime Earth

On Earth-0, Gamorra was ruled by the despotic Kaizen Gamorra, a madman obsessed with the power metahumans could provide him. In the early days of the superhuman age, he arranged the acquisition of Pandora's Box, and caused the deaths of James Bronson's family. As a result, Bronson's alter-ego and metahuman abilities were activated, transforming him into the entity known as Majestic.

In the ensuing conflict, Majestic caused a tidal-wave that destroyed Gamorra's capital city and Kaizen was ostensibly killed. However, a wave of psychic energy fused the psyches of Kaizen and Dean Higgins, creating the entity known as Regulus.

Kaizen's son, Kaizen Gamorra II, would later conquer the country of Rheelasia, renaming it 'New Gamorra'. Like his father, he would eventually be deposed, with his own lust for power allowing him to be taken down by Superman, Batman, and versions of Huntress and Power Girl from another world.

In time, the island nation of Gamorra recovered, becoming a democracy. Eventually, Sara Nakamura was elected president. Her successor, however, was mad scientist Henry Bendix, who took steps to ensure that his election was the last free election Gamorra ever had. He began post-human experiments on the island's population as part of an initiative he referred to as 'The Rising', and created the 'Gamorra Corps', a legion of remote-controlled superhumans at his beck and call.
