Ganthet was one of the Guardians of the Universe, creators and leaders of the Green Lantern Corps.

History

After the Yellow Lantern Sinestro infected the greatest Green Lantern Hal Jordan with the fear parasite Parallax, they started an attack on Oa. During their invasion, they murdered each and every Lantern and Guardian they were able to find, except Ganthet. Although he managed to escape, he was still mortally wounded and knew he would die. He was still able to reach Earth with a spaceship in time, so that he could give ring of former Lantern Jordan to John Stewart, before dying in his arms.
