Garguax is the alien emperor of the Earth's Moon, Lord High Malefactor of the Zarox Empire, and Tormentor-in-Chief of the Stygian Commonwealth, who reigns from his lunar castle and maintains an army of robots.
History
As the Moon Emperor, Garguax encountered the Doom Patrol, finding them to be more respectful than his future adversary the Captain.[1]
In an effort to compel Billy Batson into action as the superpowered Captain, the god Atlas possessed an intelligent Simian Island gorilla named Ted and through him claimed that Garguax planned to destroy the Earth using the gorillas' technology after years of seemingly benevolent exchange. As the Captain, Batson stormed Garguax's castle and did battle with his robot army.[2] Garguax revealed that the gorillas' technology was in reality being put to use in the construction of the hiveship of the hypnotic Queen Bee, who preyed upon the emperor's affections to have him do her bidding. Garguax presented the Captain to Queen Bee, growing jealous at the their advances towards each other, but was prevented from attacking Batson in his powerless form by an attack from the gorillas' militia. Seeking the warp drive for themselves, the gorillas fought Garguax's robots until the queen halted the battle via pheromone control. Garguax, despite feeling used, was shrunken to the size of an insect by Queen Bee and was ordered to ready her ship.[3] However, Garguax refused to turn over the drive until Queen Bee restored his volume, upon which he had her seized by his army. Garguax succumbed to the Captain's torture and bluffing and gave up the warp drive, regurgitating it from his own stomach. Without the drive, Garguax, aboard a spaceship with Queen Bee, was ejected from the moon by the Captain.[1]

- Garguax was created by Arnold Drake and Bruno Premiani, first appearing in Doom Patrol #91. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Garguax first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Shazam! (Volume 5) #3 by Mark Waid and Dan Mora.
