Garth Ranzz, aka Livewire, is a founding member of the Legion of Super-Heroes with electrical abilities.

Born on Winath, Garth and the rest of his family gained superpowers during a crash-landing on the planet Korbal, where they were electrically charged by the resident Lightning Beasts. Later, when his intervention, along with that of Rokk Krinn and Imra Ardeen, helped save the life of billionaire industrialist R.J. Brande, he was asked to join Brande's new Legion of Super-Heroes, a government-sponsored team of superpowered teenagers from across the galaxy.[1]

Powers

Equipment

  • Legion Flight Ring: All Legionnaires were presented with a flight ring that enabled them to defy gravity and sustain movement through the air by aerodynamically generating force.

  • Before his mind entered Progenitor, Live Wire's eyes were blue, and his hair was red.
  • Other incarnations of Garth Ranzz have more commonly gone by the name Lightning Lad. Originally, Live Wire was supposed to be called Lightning Lad, but R.J. Brande claimed that his marketing department determined that Live Wire would be a "fresher and more noticeable" codename.[2]
  • Live Wire has lost and regained his right arm several times. It was originally severed from his body during a battle with Lightning Lord.[3]
