Gary Lester, better known as Gaz, is a longtime friend of John Constantine's that he met when he was a teenager.
History
The two formed a band together called Mucous Membrane in their youth and, even after it disbanded, they remained really close friends.[1]
During Darkseid's invasion of Earth 2, Gaz decided to spend his last remaining days with his friends. However, when an alternate reality John Constantine appeared and promised refuge back on his Earth, Gaz and the gang complied.[2] During the magical teleportation, however, Gaz was killed by invading Parademons, never actually leaving Earth 2 with the others.[3]

- Gaz (Gary Lester) was created by Jamie Delano and John Ridgway, first appearing in Hellblazer #1. However, in the rebooted Earth 2 continuity his first appearance as part of the DC Universe is in Ray Fawkes, Jeff Lemire, and Fabiano Neves' New 52 Constantine series.
