Gemini De Mille is a shape-shifting opponent-turned-ally of Nightwing, the Birds of Prey, and, as a member of the Brotherhood of Evil, an enemy of the Doom Patrol.
History
The daughter of Doom Patrol adversary[1] Madame Rouge, Gemini lived in the city of Blüdhaven and fell in with the metahuman guru and power thief Blackbird, who trained her to extend her elongation abilities to molecular shape-shifting. Ostensibly as part of her training, Blackbird had Gemini kill those who knew her in the city, in reality a ploy to isolate her before stealing her powers.[2]
Gemini left Blüdhaven for Gotham City to cut further ties, and was tracked there by Oracle of the Birds of Prey and confronted by Nightwing. Lowering his guard by taking the form of his mentor Batman, Gemini stabbed and incapacitated Nightwing only to be set upon by the Birds, who determined that she was vulnerable to heat and forced her flee by igniting the gas tank of Nightwing's motorcycle. Defeated, she returned to Blackbird, who stole her abilities, leaving Gemini powerless.[2]
She was later accosted by the Green Arrow, who was investigating the disappearance of his partner and Birds of Prey member the Black Canary after infiltrating Blackbird's operation. Gemini directed Green Arrow, the other Birds, and Nightwing to her location,[3] and suggested they exploit the weakness of Blackbird's stolen mind-control powers when divided across multiple targets. With their enemy defeated, Nightwing connected Gemini, powerless and alone, with a support group in Blüdhaven.[4]
Eventually, Gemini's powers—and villainous tendencies—returned, and she was recruited into General Immortus' Brotherhood of Evil, an army assembled to assault the General's foes the Doom Patrol in their headquarters the Shelter. Spurred on by her mother's rivalry with the team, Gemini fought with the trainees of Flex Force, their mentor Flex Mentallo, and Doom Patrollers Elasti-Woman,[1] Beast Girl, and Velvet. The Brotherhood members were ultimately defeated by the psychic Mento, who erased their memories of the Patrol headquarters and allowed them to depart.[5]
