Synopsis for "A Christmas Caper"

AT I.O., on Christmas Eve, generals planned a coup in a war room, scientists experimented with gene-splicing goo, and men in back rooms made schemes, while Gen 13 put up their Christmas tree. However, Grunge did not help, as he was still working on his "top secret" Christmas project. After finally finishing, Grunge claimed that he calculated Santa Claus' arrival at 1:14 A.M. and announced his plan to wait for him with a spy camera to catch him on film. Fairchild scoffed at his plan, but Freefall joined in. Freefall left cookies for Santa by her teddy bear.

Meanwhile, a man known only as the Baron, the director of I.O., watched from a camera built inside of the bear. The Baron was also tracking Santa Claus, as he had received coal every Christmas. Santa Claus touched down, as Grunge was focused on recording him, while Freefall took out a mistletoe and held it above him and herself. Meanwhile, the Nerve Center was also watching him and when he and his elves entered the compound, the Baron's men attacked him.

The Baron kidnapped Santa Claus, the elves, Grunge, and Freefall and demanded the naughty and nice lists. Helga was alerted by the sound of the fight and learned that I.O. had broken in. In order to protect Grunge and Freefall, Santa ordered his elf to surrender the list to the Baron, but before he could, Grunge snatched the list and ran away until he was stopped by the Contessa. After acquiring the list, the Baron ordered Santa, the elves, and the two heroes to be thrown into the Box on Level Twenty-Six. Helga, Fairchild, Rainmaker, and Burnout infiltrated the Nerve Center and attempted to free their teammates.

The Baron learned of Helga's presence, revealed that he was behind the Genesis Project, and released a monster to "pull the plug" on it by killing Gen 13. Still trapped in the Box, Santa and Freefall used their combined powers to give Helga a Christmas miracle by levitating the mistletoe over her and the monster.

On the roof of the Nerve Center, the Baron planned to ruin Christmas by giving "children of virtue" coal and "those with malice in their hearts" reward. Before the Baron could take off in his rocket sled they were suddenly attacked when Gen 13 and the monster broke through the rooftop. Then, the Contessa blasted the monster off of the rooftop with energy from her hand. Before attempting to begin his journey, the Baron learned that Grunge had switched Santa's list with the plan he had worked on. Freefall jumped off of the roof and saved the monster, while the rest of the team fought the Contessa.

The Baron realized his plan had been ruined, but charged his rocket sled into Santa. Grunge picked his nose with one hand and shot boogers at the Contessa with another in order to jam her technology. Burnout grabbed the Baron from his sled and Fairchild picked up a piece of the roof to keep the sled from hitting Santa. Then, Freefall crushed the Contessa with Santa's bag. The Baron confronted Santa about always receiving coal, which the latter claimed had been a mistake until the former reached the age of thirty-five in 1974. Santa had Rainmaker make him a snowball to show the Baron his past, revealing that it was the Baron's father who disposed of his presents and kept coal coming.

Santa realized that the battle had cost him too much time to deliver presents and believed that Christmas was ruined. However, after learning what his father did, the Baron vowed to save Christmas. The I.O. helped Santa Claus deliver his presents. On Christmas morning, the Baron opened a vault and was delighted to find toys, rather than coal, inside of it.
