Synopsis for the 1st Story
Fairchild exits the subway, worrying that she may undergo changes on her upcoming birthday. Michael Monday secretly watches her longingly from the crowd. In Lynch's room at the hotel, Bobby finds a hidden stash of pictures and news clippings of Gen 13 when they were children. Roxy sees Grunge bringing a recovering Sarah breakfast but is disgusted when he tells her they are leftovers. She storms off, and Grunge wonders to Sarah why Roxy is always angry at him. Later, an old woman collapses ahead of Roxy in the checkout line at the grocery store. Dr. Paul Vanderwould comes running to help, and Roxy is immediately smitten with him. While Sarah counsels Grunge during a walk in Central Park, Caitlin enters the kitchen as Roxy is trying to bake her birthday cake. Caitlin admits her recent preoccupation and hugs her sister. Elsewhere, Earl wakes up in a hospital and, thanks to TAO's perceptual manipulation wearing off, recognizes himself in the mirror as John Lynch. Back in New York, Bobby tries unsuccessfully to use his psionic powers to find his father. At midnight, Gen 13 gathers outside Caitlin's room to surprise her for her birthday. When they open her door and wake her, they discover she has reverted to her petite, pre-Gen-Active form.
