The Mongol warlord Genghis Khan conquered and ruled almost all of the known world.

According to legend, on his deathbed in 1227, Genghis Khan told his most trusted servant that he intended to cheat death.

Centuries later, in 1948, an American descendant of the Khan's most trusted aide removed the Great Khan's sword from storage. At the same time, in New York City, the Ibistick alerted Ibis the Invincible that a great evil magic was afoot. First the sword-bearer then Ibis transported themselves to distant Ulutan, site of the Great Khan's hidden tomb.

Before the arrival of Ibis, the servant had cleaved open the secret tomb of Genghis Khan, from which arose the perfectly preserved Khan himself. After fatally fusing the servant with the stone of a nearby pillar, Ibis turned his wand into King Arthur's fabled blade Excalibur, and with it he impaled the Khan. Then to make sure that the fearsome conqueror never got a chance to rise again, Ibis magically returned the entire tomb to the dust of the Earth.
