History

After the end of the Second World War, the Sultan of Ghanpat was the third richest man in the world.[1] He spent heavily on modernizing his domain, and the capital city of Ghanpat was picturesque but modern. As the old ruler himself put it, "I consider myself only the servant of the people! This wealth is the nation's security for loans, trade agreements, treaties, to make Ghanpat a progressive, modern nation!"

The vast inherited wealth of the little nation, accumulated over centuries, was stored in a series of underground vaults, guarded by at least one Komodo Dragon. Inevitably this hoard acted magnetically on criminals and con-men from every corner of the world. One well-planned attempted theft, in which much of the capital's police force was corrupted or replaced, was disrupted by the famous Blackhawk Squadron.

Ghanpat was a Sultanate, thus was essentially ruled by decree. Unlike more traditional sultanates, the laws here were such that the Sultan's only child, Princess Shireen, was his designated successor.
