The Giant Dalmatians are the mounts of the Atomic Knights.
History
Prior to the Atomic War that devastated the Earth in 1986, scientists had detected strange radiation at the North Pole and sent the ship MR1909 with a couple of Dalmatians aboard in order to test whether the radiation was hazardous to life. The radiation may have affected the growth glands of the two dogs making them giants. They may have been automatically released by the rocket and landed by parachute before it crashed. The Atomic Knights found the dogs, bred them, and their puppies grew as tall as their parents, serving as mounts.[1]
