Gorilla Grodd is a super-intelligent who gained superhuman intelligence and psychic powers through exposure to a meteorite.

He's a long-time enemy of the Flash and a member of the Legion of Doom.

Grodd took part in a ploy of the Legion of Doom to bring the Justice League which entailed to dress themselves up as ghosts to catch the Leaguers unprepared. As both teams duked it out, Aquaman lured Grodd into the Hall of Justice's swimming pool, where he was quickly trapped by Topo. Grodd was turned over to King Solovar in Gorilla City and jailed.

Eventually Grodd broke out. Unfortunately, at the same time a strange gorilla "ghost" started haunting the city. When the Flash and Mystery, Inc. came to investigate on King Solovar's request, Grodd was so frightened of the ghost that he approached them to ask help. Once the so-called ghost was trapped, King Solovar wanted Grodd back in prison. Grodd tried to freeze them telepathically out of his way, but he was defeated by Flash again.
