Green Lantern/Flash: Faster Friends #1 is an issue of the series Green Lantern/Flash: Faster Friends (Volume 1) with a cover date of February, 1997.
Synopsis for the 1st Story
An alien escapes from a military facility in the Arctic and is free to haunt his old enemies: Alan Scott and Jay Garrick. On a stormy night, he sneaks into their respective houses and kidnaps them, alerting their wives, who notice their absence and recognize the kidnapper's identity. Worried, Joan and Molly call for the help of Wally West and Kyle Rayner.
They explain the story of the kidnapper, called Alien X. Fifty years ago, Alan and Jay teamed up for the first time to help the government fight Alien X, who represented a "threat to America." In reality, the alien was stranded on Earth and needed help to return home. Instead, the heroes apprehended him, and the government took custody of the alien and kept the story secret, discarding Alan and Jay as disposable pawns. Secretly, the scientists experimented on him for fifty years, infecting him with an inoperable disease.
Reluctantly, Kyle and Wally are forced to team up again and follow Alien X's trail to the Arctic. After an unsuccessful search and a brief discussion, the heroes split to search separately. Eventually, Alien X forces Alan telepathically to use his powers to dig his spaceship out of the ice, and Kyle's ring senses Alan's powers. Kyle and Wally rendezvous and break into the ship, but Alien X forces Alan and Jay to fight them. Jay's body suddenly weakens and stops fighting, giving the young heroes enough time to break the alien's telepathic link. However, he activates a self-destruct protocol before sending an "invitation" to his kind. Wally takes Alan and Jay out of the ship while Kyle tries to reason with Alien X and offers his help. But the alien says it's too late "for all of us," for he'll die anyway, and the ship explodes.
Kyle flies out of the fire and reunites with the rest, but he can't stop thinking about what Alien X meant before dying...
